Microsoft is prompting millions of Windows 10 users to upgrade, as the deadline for end of support approaches. Out of the 850 million Windows 10 users, about 400 million may face issues due to hardware limitations that prevent them from upgrading to Windows 11. Microsoft plans to force-install the new Outlook client and new Windows 11 updates on Windows 10 devices shortly. The company has indicated that updates are vital for security, and users will receive notifications regarding their support status. As of October, support for Microsoft 365 apps will also end, complicating upgrade decisions for many. Users may have to upgrade their hardware or pay for a limited extension of support, while facing potential cybersecurity risks, as it is concerning that many are left unsupported as the landscape shifts toward Windows 11.
