Allen Media Group’s new local weather initiative, in partnership with The Weather Channel, has caused job uncertainty for meteorologists at 27 local TV stations. The plan, set to launch in 2025, includes a new forecasting format with enhanced visual storytelling, primarily produced by Weather Channel meteorologists in Atlanta. While aimed at improving severe weather coverage, local TV meteorologists fear layoffs as some stations have already announced job cuts. Affected meteorologists have expressed concern, emphasizing the important community role of local weather forecasters in delivering timely, life-saving information. Allen Media Group previously acquired The Weather Channel in 2018.
