Garmin has announced a solution for the smartwatch issue known as the “Blue Death” that prevented devices from starting up. According to spokesperson Natalie Miller, the company has addressed the root cause of the problem, specifically related to startup errors associated with GPS activity usage. Users experiencing these issues are encouraged to access Garmin Support for help. While a device reset may help, Garmin warns that this can result in data loss, including information from Garmin Wallet and custom settings. Depending on the model, affected users may need to perform specific reset procedures, including using Garmin Express to force a restart for certain models like EPIX and Fenix. Additionally, Garmin suggests that edge cycling computer users delete specific files on their Windows computers or perform a master reset if problems persist. The company emphasized that a factory reset should be a last resort due to potential data loss.
