A powerful storm sweeping through the eastern United States has resulted in life-threatening floods and tornado warnings, particularly affecting areas in Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Emergency responders have conducted nearly 30 water rescues as vehicles and homes have been submerged. More than 150,000 customers in Alabama are experiencing power outages, along with thousands in other affected states.
Warnings for flash floods and tornadoes have been issued, as significant rainfall is expected, with some areas at high risk for severe flooding. West Virginia’s governor declared a state of emergency for all counties, while military support is being provided for recovery efforts in Virginia. The storms are anticipated to persist through Sunday, with predictions of heavy precipitation continuing into Monday. Residents are particularly concerned given their recent experience with devastating floods in 2022.
