Kohn has returned to Colorado Springs following President’s Day weekend, and several road closures and delays are scheduled for the week of February 17th. Powers Boulevard will experience one-way closures starting February 20th due to bridge girder installation as part of a $46 million project aimed at replacing signal intersections at Powers and Airport Road. Despite winter weather impacting the timeline, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) expects the project to finish by the end of 2026.
Upcoming closures include:
– Southbound Powers Boulevard on East Platt Avenue from 9 PM to 4 AM on February 20-21.
– Airport Road closed from 8 PM to 5 AM on February 21-22.
– Northbound Powers Boulevard on Airport Road from 9 PM to 4 AM on February 22-23.
Detours for southbound traffic will divert through Academy Boulevard and back to Airport Road.
Additionally, South Academy Boulevard will close on February 22 from 7 AM to 5 PM for bridge welding operations, with traffic rerouted through Bradley Road and US Highway 85/87. Maxwell Street will close north of South Academy Boulevard on February 21 and 24 for utility work, with detours suggested via Chadwick Drive and Wilshire Drive. Lastly, the off-ramp from Southbound South Academy Boulevard to Coventry Drive will be closed on February 17 for soundwall panel installation, with detour routes leading east towards Venetucci Boulevard.
