Zach Martin, a future Hall of Famer and key player for the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line, has retired after an impressive 11-year career. The Cowboys are now faced with the challenge of filling his significant role ahead of the 2025 season. While Martin’s departure leaves a big gap, they have promising options in Tyler Smith and potential internal candidates like Brock Hoffman and TJ Bass.
Hoffman, who played six games at right guard after Martin’s injury, aims to uphold the legacy Martin set. He performed well, allowing only two sacks in his 379 snaps. Bass, versatile across the line, has also shown reliability, although he’s in the final year of his contract.
The Cowboys could also explore drafting new talent to fortify the right guard position, as they have consistently picked offensive linemen in recent years. Potential draft prospects include top guard prospect Booker, versatile Donovan Jackson, and experienced guard Rutledge. Additionally, Cooper Beebee, currently at center, might be moved to guard due to his college versatility.
With the offensive line’s future at stake, new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and his staff will need to strategically assemble a strong lineup for the upcoming season.
