An Israeli man, Hassan Dahamsha, age 70, was killed and four others injured in what police are calling a terrorist stabbing attack in Haifa, northern Israel. The attacker, a 20-year-old Druze man named Itro Shaheen, allegedly exited a bus and began stabbing people at Hamiflatz Central Station after shouting “Allahu Akbar.” He was shot dead by security guards at the scene. Three of the injured, including a 15-year-old boy and a woman in her 30s, are in serious condition. Shaheen had recently returned from Germany and police are investigating the motivations behind the attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to combat those who threaten the nation, while Druze leaders condemned the assault and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. The mayor of Shaheen’s hometown expressed shock over the incident, suggesting the attacker may have been mentally unstable. Hamas labeled the attack a “heroic” response to Israeli actions against Palestinians, amidst ongoing tensions and a ceasefire in Gaza.
