The Maryland Public Works Commission has approved a new air traffic control tower at Martin State Airport, located in Middle River, Baltimore County. This development is part of a larger expansion project that includes transforming the old Lockheed Martin office into the Maryland Aerospace Heritage Center. This center will feature schools, an event center, and the Maryland Airmen’s Hall of Fame, making it the largest aviation museum on the East Coast. The facility will include an aviator school, aircraft mechanics, and air traffic control training, as well as a kitchen for potential culinary arts programs. Currently, the museum has one of the largest aviation collections in Maryland, with around 98,000 square feet of artifacts stored off-site. The new building will provide a permanent home for many of these items.
