In the first round, No. 12 Washington defeated No. 13 Minnesota 79-65, No. 10 Nebraska beat No. 15 Rutgers 84-60, and No. 11 Iowa triumphed over No. 14 Wisconsin 81-54.
In round two, No. 9 Indiana claimed victory against No. 8 Oregon 78-62, No. 5 Michigan won over Washington 66-58, No. 10 Nebraska edged No. 7 Illinois 74-70, and No. 11 Iowa defeated No. 6 Michigan 74-61.
During the quarterfinals, No. 1 USC narrowly defeated No. 9 Indiana 84-79, No. 5 Michigan shocked No. 4 Maryland 98-71, No. 2 UCLA overcame No. 10 Nebraska 85-74, and No. 3 Ohio State edged No. 11 Iowa 60-59.
In the semifinals, No. 1 USC beat No. 5 Michigan 82-70, while No. 2 UCLA triumphed over No. 3 Ohio State 75-46, setting up a championship showdown between UCLA and USC on March 9.
