Beginning Monday, River Road in Louisville will undergo phased closures for significant infrastructure improvements related to the Residual Line Project, which aims to upgrade a pipeline that transports residual solids from the Crescent Hill water treatment plant to lagoons at the Be Payne Water Treatment Plant. The project is necessary as the existing line, built in 1971, has reached the end of its lifespan. The closures will occur in four phases: Zorn Avenue to Blankenbaker Lane will be closed from March to September, followed by Blankenbaker Lane to Lime Kiln Lane, which will close from September until April 2026. Commuters can utilize alternate routes such as Zorn Avenue, Interstate 71, and Gene Snyder Freeway. While parts of River Road will be closed, local access to homes and businesses will remain open. The Louisville Water Company anticipates that the construction will take approximately two years to complete.
