A recent incident involving a Delta-connected flight operated by Endeavour Air occurred on March 16, when the CRJ900 aircraft experienced a wing tip strike while landing at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) after flying from Jacksonville, Florida. The event, which took place around 10 PM, prompted the pilot to perform a go-around after the left wing hit the runway. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the passengers or crew.
In response to inquiries about the incident, a Delta spokesman confirmed that established procedures were followed, ensuring a safe landing. This incident comes one month after another Delta-connected flight experienced a violent landing involving a different aircraft, which thankfully resulted in no fatalities. Wing strikes, while rare, have occurred in other instances worldwide, often resulting in varying degrees of damage but not always endangering passengers.
Despite the incident, the aircraft safely arrived at the gate in LaGuardia. Data indicates that the involved plane, registered as N185GJ and operational since July 2008, remains grounded at LGA following the incident.
