Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old college student from Virginia, has been missing for 12 days while on spring break in the Dominican Republic. Her parents, Subbarayudu and Sreedevi Konanki, are requesting police to declare her dead after officials determined she is likely deceased following extensive searches. Surveillance footage captured Sudiksha walking with friends on March 6, shortly before her disappearance. A man who was with her is currently being investigated, but he has not been named a suspect. His legal counsel is challenging his detention, asserting his rights were violated. Sudiksha’s family believes declaring her dead will help them begin the grieving process, as they cope with the uncertainty of her absence.
