Sports reporter Adan Manzano was found dead in a hotel room in the New Orleans area while covering Super Bowl LIX. Danette Colbert, described as a “career criminal” by Kenner police, has been charged with his murder. Manzano, 27, reportedly died from the toxic effects of Xanax and alcohol, and police believe Colbert drugged him to facilitate the crime.
Colbert has a history of criminal activity, including theft and fraud. Previous victims, including David Butler, warned that Colbert was dangerous after he accused her of drugging him and stealing over $134,000. Butler expressed deep concern about the potential for further violence from Colbert, especially after she was granted probation for past offenses.
Colbert had also faced charges in Las Vegas for similar crimes, although some of those charges were dismissed when victims did not testify. Butler, who spoke with CNN after learning about Colbert’s murder charge, described the traumatic experience he endured and expressed regret for not seeking medical help after being drugged. He continues to feel the emotional toll of the incident and fears for future victims of Colbert.
