Joshua Libe, a senior at St. Cloud University in Minnesota, is believed to be the last person to see Suddyksha Konanki, a missing student from Pittsburgh, who disappeared in the Dominican Republic. After being in police custody, Libe was released by Judge Edwin Riho, who categorized him as a witness, allowing him freedom of movement. It was reported that Libe and Konanki were drinking and spending time on the beach when she went missing. He claimed to have vomited and when he looked for her, she was gone.
Konanki’s parents have petitioned Dominican authorities to declare her legally dead, suggesting they believe she drowned. They explained that initiating this process will help them begin to grieve. Local officials, including Loudoun County Sheriff Michael Chapman, expressed condolences and stated they are collaborating with Dominican authorities to investigate the case. Suddyksha Konanki traveled to the Dominican Republic with friends for spring break on March 3, and disappeared near their hotel on March 6. She was originally from India and had become a permanent U.S. resident.
