The Los Angeles County 605 Highway segment will remain closed on Sundays and will face additional closures next weekend due to a major rehabilitation project spanning from Long Beach to San Gabriel Valley. Caltrans reported that various southbound lanes will be affected, with complete closures scheduled on I-605 southbound from Slauson Avenue to I-5 until 5:01 AM on Mondays, along with multiple connector closures. Traffic will be redirected via local routes during these times.
The project, part of the Super 605 Freeway Corridor initiative, will cost around $260 million, funded mostly by the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Employment Act and California’s Senate Bill 1. Additionally, lane and ramp closures will occur the following week for various construction activities, including excavation and asphalt work, with specified hours for these disruptions.
Ongoing changes will happen throughout the construction period, extending into 2025, with the potential for more weekend closures to be announced. Caltrans encourages drivers to avoid these construction areas when possible.
