Food poisoning is being investigated in connection with the tragic death of 14-year-old Miller Gardner, son of former New York Yankee Brett Gardner. Police in Costa Rica confirmed that choking was ruled out as the cause of death, which occurred while the family vacationed at the Arena Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort. Authorities stated that it may take several months to determine the exact cause of death, as various samples have been sent for analyses.
Miller became seriously ill during the trip and was found unresponsive after vomiting in bed. His mother Jessica and brother Hunter were also on vacation with him. Investigators initially suspected suffocation but later found his airways unobstructed. The hotel and a restaurant the Gardners visited have sought to clarify their involvement amid misinformation circulating on social media, emphasizing their cooperation with authorities.
Miller’s body is being prepared for repatriation to the U.S., while the family continues to seek answers in this tragic incident. Brett Gardner, who played for the New York Yankees for 14 years, retired in 2021.
