A Connecticut man allegedly endured decades of neglect and abuse at the hands of his stepmother, Kimberly Sullivan, 56, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree assault. Authorities discovered the 32-year-old man, who weighed only 68 pounds, in a severely deteriorated and filthy state in a Waterbury home. He reported feeling like a prisoner since the age of 11. Photographs released by police show the dirty and chaotic conditions inside the house, including smoke-damaged walls, locked doors, and messy rooms.
Firefighters found the man curled up under a kitchen table, illustrating the severity of his situation. Sullivan’s attorney claims she cared for him properly and didn’t prevent him from leaving. The victim’s biological mother, who relinquished custody shortly after his birth, expressed profound regret upon learning of his condition. Sullivan is scheduled to return to court on April 22.
