A recent court document revealed connections between Prince Andrew and Yang, an alleged Chinese spy. The 10-page statement from former aide Dominique Hampshire, released by a British court, detailed Yang’s close ties to the Duke and his involvement in expanding the Pitch @ Palace initiative to China. In December, a court upheld a decision to ban Yang from the UK due to concerns over national security, based on MI5’s advice.
Yang reportedly assisted Prince Andrew in drafting communications with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding the Eurasian Fund. Hampshire stated that the royal family, including the late Queen, was aware of these communications, which were seemingly accepted or encouraged. He mentioned meeting with Prince Andrew and King Charles about funding proposals but noted that Yang was never discussed.
Following Andrew’s controversial interview about his ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Hampshire indicated the Prince’s reputation was believed to be damaged beyond repair. Despite the relationship with Yang, Hampshire denied any close connection, asserting that Andrew followed advice to sever ties with him. Hampshire left the royal family in 2022 and no longer advises Andrew.
