Cody Ballmer, a 38-year-old from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder and arson, after allegedly setting fire to Governor Josh Shapiro’s mansion early on Sunday morning. The incident occurred while Shapiro and his family were home, celebrating the first night of Passover. Ballmer was arrested on Monday and denied bail due to concerns that his actions posed a risk to the community. During his court appearance, he described himself as a former welder and mentioned his past mental health issues but claimed no history of substance abuse. Pennsylvania State Police reported that Ballmer jumped the fence of the governor’s mansion carrying homemade incendiary devices. Shapiro condemned the attack, emphasizing that such violence is becoming increasingly common and should be stopped, regardless of political affiliations. Ballmer is currently undergoing treatment for an unrelated health issue at a hospital.
