The 14th International Architectural Biennale (BIASP) is set to take place from September 18 to October 19, 2025, in São Paulo, at the OCA Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park. Organized by the São Paulo division of the Brazilian Institute of Architects (IABSP), this edition will focus on architecture’s role in addressing climate change and adapting to environmental shifts. Curated by six architects, the Biennale will draw inspiration from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and aims to explore innovative architectural responses to the climate crisis.
Key themes will include forest preservation, water management, sustainable renovation, renewable energy integration, and climate justice in social housing. The exhibition will feature a modular installation designed by architect Álvaro Lazk, showcasing a variety of projects and proposals addressing these themes.
Notable participants include Yu Kongjian, a pioneer of “sponge cities” in China, and various Dutch firms presenting experimental urban projects. Open calls for exhibitions and activities are currently active, inviting global contributions that blend contemporary practices with traditional knowledge.
The Biennale will emphasize architectural practices that support resilient, sustainable futures and seek to create adaptable urban landscapes prepared for climate extremes. The collaboration of diverse voices and experiences is central to formulating effective responses to these challenges.
