Meta has officially launched live translation features for its Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, previously in limited release, now available to all users. The glasses can translate spoken French, Italian, and Spanish into English in real-time, allowing for seamless conversations with non-English speakers. If both parties have Ray-Ban glasses, they can communicate directly; otherwise, the conversation can continue via the Meta app on a smartphone. The glasses operate without Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity by pre-downloading languages.
Additionally, Meta is expanding the glasses’ availability to countries like Mexico, India, and the UAE, potentially adding more languages in the future. The Ray-Ban glasses also feature Meta AI capabilities for various tasks, such as generating meal suggestions based on available ingredients.
Users can make calls, send messages through Messenger and WhatsApp, and soon on Instagram. Access to music services like Spotify and Amazon Music is also being expanded. The glasses come in various styles and colors, starting at $299, and include options for prescription lenses. For a more immersive experience, users can try them on at local retailers.
