Japan Airlines (JL) has announced a significant network expansion and fleet modernization plan for its summer 2025 schedule, introducing new routes and increasing flight frequencies across international markets.
Key highlights include the launch of a Tokyo Narita (NRT)-Chicago (ORD) route on May 31, which will enhance connections between Southeast Asia, India, and North America, and operate under a codeshare with American Airlines.
Japan Transocean Air will start a new Naha-Taipei route to cater to growing tourism demand. Existing routes, such as Narita-San Diego and Narita-Bengaluru, will increase to daily operations, while routes from Kansai to Los Angeles and Honolulu will also be upgraded to daily services.
Fleet modernization includes the introduction of Airbus A350-1000 on the Haneda-Paris route by May 1, 2025. The expansion also involves strategic partnerships, such as with Major League Baseball, to promote sports tourism.
Domestically, Japan Airlines is enhancing regional connectivity, increasing flight frequency on popular routes, and upgrading aircraft for better passenger comfort. This is part of their commitment to environmental sustainability and improved travel experiences. Full details of their winter schedule will be released later.
