All major international airlines, including Air India, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines, plan to resume flights to Tel Aviv in early 2025, following the end of a 15-month conflict between Israel and Hamas that resulted in significant casualties and displacement.
United Airlines aims to resume flights by February 2025, although it currently has a reservation suspension in place. Air India will start direct flights from Delhi to Tel Aviv beginning March 2, 2025, becoming the sole airline on that route. Delta will resume its daily flights from New York to Tel Aviv starting April 1, 2025, coinciding with the Passover holiday and challenging El Al’s market share.
The conflict, which began with a surprise Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, led to extensive military operations and significant loss of life on both sides. Despite operations, Hamas remains in control of the Gaza Strip, presenting future challenges for Israel. The ongoing humanitarian crisis is prompting aid coordination efforts.
