Colorado has added Antonito’s historic Adobe home, known as the “Indiana Jones Bed & Breakfast,” to its list of “endangered historic sites.” This 136-year-old house, significant for its historical integrity and connection to the film “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” requires repairs to its foundation, windows, and structure. The goal of the program, managed by Colorado Preservation, Inc., is to bring awareness to historic sites at risk of being lost and to rally community support for preservation efforts. Over 28 years, the initiative has highlighted 144 sites, successfully saving 57 while losing 97. Other notable additions to this year’s endangered list include the Knearl Block and Opera House in Brush, the Newman Block in Granada, and the Red Cliff Town Hall. Each site holds cultural significance and needs restoration to protect their heritage.
