Sigma has introduced the 300-600mm f/4 DG OS Sports lens designed for L-mount and Sony E-mount cameras, targeting professional sports, action, and wildlife photographers. This ultra-telephoto zoom lens combines prime-level optical performance with the versatility of a zoom. It boasts a large diameter of 6.6 inches and a length of 18.4 inches, weighing 140.6 ounces. The lens features 28 internal elements, including six FLD and one SLD lens, and has a robust magnesium alloy barrel with thermal insulation to reduce heat absorption during long outdoor shoots.
The lens utilizes Sigma’s High Response Linear Actuator (HLA) motor for rapid and accurate focusing and incorporates Sigma’s OS2 optical stabilization with two modes: one for general use and another optimized for moving subjects. The lens also includes a customizable function ring for quick focus adjustments and a tripod socket with an Arca Swiss cutout.
Additionally, it supports a drop-in filter holder for standard 40.5mm filters and is compatible with Sigma’s teleconverter for expanded focal length options. The 300-600mm lens will retail for $5,999 and is set to be available in April.
