Passes, a monetization platform for creators that recently raised $40 million in Series A funding, is facing lawsuits for allegedly distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The platform prohibits nude content, unlike competitors like OnlyFans, but creator Alice Rosenblum claims she produced and sold sexually explicit content as a minor.
The lawsuit targets not just Passes but also Alec Celestine and Lani Zinoza, described as “agents” of the platform. Rosenblum alleges that they knowingly engaged with her while she was a minor and that the company owned her explicit content. Passes has denied these allegations and stated they have no record of interaction between Rosenblum and CEO Lucy Guo.
Rosenblum specifically accuses Celestine of instructing her to create explicit material at age 17 and claims Guo intervened to bypass safety measures that flagged her content as CSAM. Passes maintains that they strictly manage content moderation and do not allow explicit images.
While Passes collaborates with high-profile figures, they assert that they take strict measures against CSAM, utilizing Microsoft Photodna for scanning images. Rosenblum’s lawyer emphasized that the defendants must address the lawsuit in court rather than on social media. The case raises significant concerns regarding the distribution of illegal content through creator platforms.
