The search for two-year-old Dane Paulsen, who was reported missing on March 1, 2025, ended tragically when his body was discovered in a river near his family’s home in Lincoln County, Oregon. Investigators had been focused on the Siretz River, where authorities believed he was last seen before disappearing. His body was found at 11:13 am on March 4, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the sad news, expressing deep sorrow for the child’s family.
Sheriff Adam Shanks addressed the community, thanking them for their support during the search, and requested respect for the grieving family’s privacy. The search operation involved 88 team members, investigators, drones, and numerous volunteers, covering 682 acres and 341 miles over the course of several days. The FBI also supported the investigation. Initial concerns about criminal activity were alleviated as authorities confirmed there was no evidence to suggest foul play. Dane was described as a friendly young boy who loved the water. Further updates from the sheriff’s office would be shared on social media.
