The Carson City Airport Authority is seeking bids for a 2.48-acre lease on College Parkway, aimed at attracting fixed base operators (FBOs) to enhance airport amenities and address the high demand for hangars, as noted by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). This initiative comes amid a waitlist situation common at U.S. airports, including Carson City. Bidders are encouraged to propose the construction of hangars and other compatible services, including restaurants, which could enhance offerings similar to the popular Taildragger Cafe at Minden Tahoe Airport.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 5pm on April 10th, with a lease period set at 50 years and a minimum rental fee of $0.64 per square foot annually. The Carson City Airports Authority has also approved a project for Transparency (TTF) development, currently under FAA review, which may allow private operators access to the airport facilities. Additionally, plans are underway for the TTF Hangar Association, which aims to build 30 hangars and offices east of the airport, pending regulatory approval.
