Segway is recalling approximately 220,000 scooters in the U.S. due to a fall risk linked to failures in the folding mechanism, which has led to 20 reported injuries ranging from abrasions to fractures. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) highlighted that Segway received 68 reports of these failures. Owners of the affected scooters, specifically the NineBot Max G30p and Max G30LP models, are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Segway for a free maintenance kit, which includes tools for inspecting and adjusting the locking mechanism. The scooters were manufactured in China and Malaysia and sold at various retailers, including Best Buy and Walmart, from January 2020 to February 2025. Returns and exchanges are not accepted.
