Charleston and Mount Pleasant police will begin preparations for the Cooper River Bridge Run on Friday night, with the annual race set for Saturday morning. This 5K event will take runners from Mount Pleasant to downtown Charleston across the Arthur La Venel Bridge.

The Lavenel Bridge will remain closed to pedestrians until after the race, and police anticipate most downtown roads will reopen by noon post-race. Traffic around Marion Square and bus loading areas will remain obstructed until cleanup is finished.
